PUERTA DEL SOL:
is the main meeting point for the people in Madrid. In this lovely piazza you can admire the statue of Felipe II and the most famous Oso y el Madrono, the current symbol of the city;

PLAZA MAYOR:
is the centre of the city. It was built between 1617 and 1618. At the centre of the piazza stands the statue of Felipe III which was built under his instruction. The beauty of the piazza lies in the extravagantly painted wing of the building here;



MUSEO NACIONAL DE ARTE REINA SOFIA:
is a plain granite stone building, solely characterized by its two great glass structures holding the external elevators, where important exhibitions are held on a temporary basis. On the second floor you can visit the ‘Collecion Permanente’ which is divided into two parts: in the first part you can admire Spanish art from the early ‘900s up until the 70s; in the second part you will find works by the most famous Spanish artists of more recent times, such as Dali and Mirò.

The key work of art in the collection is Picasso’s master piece "GUERNICA" created in 1937;



MUSEO DEL PRADO:
is one of the main museums of the city, located in the heart of Madrid de los Borbones. It is the most important classic picture-gallery built under the reign of Carlo III in order to hold l’Accademia delle Scienze Naturali. The museum is currently made up of two buildings:

EDIFICIO VIILLANEUVA, housing works that date back to the 12th century to Goya’s period and epoch Greek-Roman sculptures that date back to the 18th century.

CASON DEL BUEN RETIRO which displays painting and sculpture collections of the 19th century as well as collections of the early 20th century.


PALACIO REAL:
is an extraordinary building constructed in the 18th century and was home of the Royal family until 1931.
It is currently used by the King for official events;

JARDINES DE SABATINI:
these magnificent gardens, presided over by an eye-catching building, and home to many trees, lovely fountains, and intriguing labyrinths, are an authentic oasis of beauty;


PARQUE DEL RETIRO:
is the main meeting point for the people of Madrid on weekends, when it comes to life with musicians, clowns, jugglers and painters. The park holds a book fair during the month of May and the occasional flamenco performance takes place during the summer. The lake Estanque, found in the park, is of remarkable beauty characterized by an impressive equestrian statue of King Alfonso XII, erected by order of his mother.

The extraordinary Palacio de Cristal, made of iron and crystal, is something you won’t want to miss while visiting the park. It was built by Ricardo Velázquez Bosco and Alberto del Palacio in 1887.
